Location Report.

Internal Filming.
We used Chestnuts Primary School Black Boy Lane, London N15 3AS for our interior filming. Collectively we decided that this was a good area to use because there is a large cellar that takes up the entire bottom of the school, the old building also contains many winding staircases and all the original exterior fittings giving an authentic feel to our film. The cellar was extremely dark and had many heavy doors and different compartments giving us a choice of where abouts in the building we wanted to shoot.

                                                                            External Filming.

For our external filming we used Oakthorpe Road and an old deserted property on the road. We chose the area because it was covered by large tree's that made the property look secluded and therefore giving an uneasy feel to the area. It was also a large building, similar to the building we used for our interior shots so it didn't look out of proportion on the filming. Nearby, there was also the local canal which we shot because there were swans there at the time, the swans contrasted with the whole idea of our film and so we decided to include them. We took a range of shots of the surounding area giving us again, a range and freedom to choose which shots fitted best.
The particular house we used was abandoned and in parts, damaged. The effect of this was that it made the building look abused and old. The shutters over the windows gave a sense of secrecy and mystery to the house, as if trying to hide something from possible onlookers. The plants and bushes around the house were over grown and not maintained making the area look manic and out of control. All of our chosen settings use pathetic fallacy in that the mood and state of mind of the charcter is reflected in the settings.

Location Mind Map.

These were our initial ideas of where we could film our opening, through process of elimination we decided upon the two locations that are circled around. The reasons for choosing these two locations were that we could get permission to film there and both areas had assets that we could use and would contribute to our film sequence.

Decisions for filming.

After creating our animatic storyboard, we decided it was time to start filming for our coursework. However, before we could start this we needed to decide where to film and most importantly which locations would be suitable for our opening seqeuence and give it an authentic feel to the film.As well as it having to fit in with our script it needed to be practical, easy to access and as a group we needed permission to film there.

Animatic Storyboard.

We shot an animatic storyboard to try and visualize what our opening sequence would look like. Using this method allowed us to view our final ideas as a moving sequence and spot any mistakes or things that could be adjusted.

Film Treatment

The film treatment includes a general outline of the whole film despite our coursework only including the opening sequence to the film. It shows the basis of our film and explains why our opening sequence is filmed the way it is.

Cast Members

Andriana de Freitas - Dawn Miller

Dawn is a 14 year old Orphan who has moved in with her auntie and uncle. She has a split personality (schizophrenic episodes) but does not know it, by day she is herself; By night she changes. Dawn is involved in a spate of murders that go unnoticed for a lengthy period of time.

Andriana is the only cast member of our film opening.

We used Andrianna because she is petite and is a drama student, she will be a good actress for portraying Dawn's charateristics. For instance she has dark hair and dark eyes, which you would associate with the typical character with a dark personality.

Wednesday 18 April 2012

We interviewed members of staff about the types of thriller films they watched and what they felt went best into a thriller movie. The reason behind the interview was to give our group an idea of what we should put into our thriller e.g: horror or romance. The members  of staff to interview were randomly selected so that we had a range of answers and opinions.

Shooting Script

This is our shooting script that we put together so that we knew exactly what footage we needed for our final piece. The shooting script ensures that as a group we didn't digress,it gave us a template and plan to stick to.
